An American poet living in Berlin hopes to win a prestigious grant while dealing with her former relationships, a rival poet and her own penchant for stealing things.
About The Film

In a Berlin where everyone speaks English, Charlotte is an American poet who smokes a lot, drinks a lot and rolls her eyes a lot. Charmingly abrasive and committed to her rivalry with fellow poet Sylvie, Charlotte is up to win a prestigious grant—if only she can keep a handle on her affair with one ex and the sudden return of another. After being busted for shoplifting, money woes and a mysterious missing pair of shoes add to her already long list of self-made troubles.

Writer/director Jordan Blady creates an impressively atmospheric first feature, fleshing out a world of modern-day beatniks as craven as they are performative. Anchored by a riveting performance from Dasha Nekrasova, Softness of Bodies is the rare film that, like Charlotte, gets both darker and more seductive as it goes along.
