When America's last standing roller rinks are threatened with closure, a community of thousands battle in a racially charged environment to save an underground subculture--one that has remained undiscovered by the mainstream for generations, yet has given
About The Film

A vibrant exploration into a dynamic underground scene, celebrating an endangered art form that has evolved into a rebellious form of personal expression for African-American communities across the country. From LA to North Carolina, the history and racially motivated policies of rinks are explored, while highlighting the individual skaters who have revolutionized it into a flashy and compelling social outlet.

Directors Dyana Winkler and Tina Brown deep-dive into the importance of skate culture, with archival footage backing up historical details of coded discrimination, and personal journeys illustrating the emotional value this community holds for many. Even more importantly, they let the impressive, stylistic and athletic skating buoy the film as it lifts the spirits of the skaters, music and hearts pumping strong.
