A 20-something lost soul seeks help for sex and love addiction, ending up with a secret friendship and a bandmate.
About The Film

Joy is a 20-something lost soul who realizes she has a problem and seeks help at a 12-step meeting for sex and love addiction. There she meets Maddie, who becomes her sponsor and gives her a place to stay if she agrees to go 30 days off of boys, sex and romance. As Joy struggles to get sober, she follows Maddie’s suggestion of adopting a hobby and finds herself taking over the drum kit in the garage that belongs to Maddie’s awkward brother, Jim. As the two of them create music together, a secret friendship grows.

Returning to the Festival, director Suzi Yoonessi (“Dear Lemon Lima”) brings her thoughtful and light touch to a story with dark threads, allowing the humor and humanity to shine through. As Joy, Charlene deGuzman compellingly delivers personalized warmth and honest zing to this woman in pain, who is working hard to get better.
