Following the unexpected death of his fiancé, an American illustrator travels to the Icelandic countryside to seek solace. What he finds instead is a blurred line between reality and fantasy as magical things begin to shake his very foundation—unless it’s all in his head.
About The Film

When an American illustrator travels to Iceland to recover from the death of his fiancé, he brings with him enough complexes and quirks to fill up an entire fjord. As he explores the beautiful and eerie landscapes, meeting strange and interesting Icelanders along the way, he starts to wonder if his somewhat supernatural experiences are a result of his own biochemistry or if some ancient force is driving him toward a greater purpose.

Few independent films create as weird and whimsical a world as Spell, driven by breathtaking cinematography from Eric Bader and a remarkable lead performance by Barak Hardley. Spell signals a new and more subdued type of horror, harkening back to the days when you didn’t need blood and guts to make an audience squirm. The LA-based filmmakers have a creative field day in Iceland without ever letting the geography take precedence over their story.
